Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) Grant

Apply Now

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) is a UK Government grant designed to help homeowners and small business owners in England and Wales switch from fossil fuel heating (gas, oil, electric, or LPG) to low carbon alternatives like heat pumps.

Current grants (as of 2026)

  • Up to £7,500 towards the installation of an air source heat pump (ASHP) or ground source heat pump (GSHP).

  • Up to £5,000 for a biomass boiler.

  • £2,500 for eligible air-to-air heat pumps (added in late 2025 for heating/cooling systems).

The grant is applied for by your MCS-certified installer (like us at Retro Sure Services) we handle the voucher process, so you see the discount upfront on your quote. Funding is available for replacing existing fossil fuel systems in homes or small non domestic buildings (new builds and social housing are generally not eligible). Properties need a valid EPC (issued within the last 10 years), and the installation must be completed within 120 days of approval.

With £295 million allocated for 2025/2026, funding remains widely available. The scheme supports the UK’s push for net-zero homes, offering significant savings on upfront costs while delivering lower running bills and reduced emissions.

Loft Insulation

Upgrading your loft insulation is one of the most effective and cost-efficient ways to reduce heat loss, lower energy bills, and improve home comfort year-round. Heat rises, so a well-insulated loft can prevent up to 25% of heat escaping through the roof — making your home warmer in winter and cooler in summer.

At Retro Sure Services, we install high-performance loft insulation to a minimum depth of 300mm (meeting or exceeding current UK Building Regulations and recommended best practice for maximum energy savings). Our comprehensive service includes:

  • Supply and installation of quality, eco-friendly insulation materials.

  • Full or part boarding over joists for safe loft storage and easy access.

  • Installation of a loft hatch/light and loft ladder where required.

Air Source Heat Pump

Switching to an air source heat pump (ASHP) is one of the most effective ways to heat your home sustainably, cut energy bills significantly, and reduce your carbon footprint. ASHPs extract heat from the outside air (even in cold UK winters) to provide efficient, low carbon heating and hot water often delivering 3–4 units of heat for every unit of electricity used.

At Retro Sure Services, we install high-efficiency, MCS-certified air source heat pumps tailored to your property’s needs.
Our full service includes:

  • Site survey and heat loss calculation to size the system correctly.

  • Professional installation of the outdoor unit (typically wall or ground mounted) and indoor cylinder/heat exchanger.

  • Integration with existing radiators/underfloor heating.

  • Smart controls, weather compensation, and full system commissioning.

  • Electrical and plumbing works to current standards.

Solar PV, Battery Storage & EV Charging

With Able To Pay, you can take full control of your energy future by installing a complete solar power system generating your own clean electricity, storing it for when you need it most, and charging your electric vehicle at home for pennies.

What we install:

  • Solar PV Panels High-efficiency panels tailored to your roof size and orientation. Generate free electricity from sunlight to power your home, reduce your reliance on the grid, and cut your energy bills significantly often by 50–70% or more.

  • Battery Storage with smart home batteries (e.g., 5–13.5 kWh systems) store excess solar energy for use in the evening or during power cuts. Maximise your self-consumption, avoid expensive peak-time rates, and enjoy greater energy independence.

  • EV Charging Points - Fast, safe, and smart home chargers (7.4kW or higher) with app control, scheduling, and integration with your solar & battery system. Charge your electric vehicle overnight using your own solar power the cheapest and greenest way to drive.

Whether you’re going fully off-grid, adding an EV, or just want to slash your bills, our solar PV + battery + EV charging packages are designed to deliver maximum return on your investment.

Energy Efficient Boilers

Replacing an old or inefficient boiler with a modern A-rated high-efficiency boiler is one of the quickest and most cost-effective ways to cut your heating bills, improve home comfort, and reduce your carbon footprint all without the need for major system changes.

What we install:

  • A-rated condensing gas boilers (or LPG-compatible where required) from leading brands

  • Full system replacement or boiler-only swap (as appropriate)

  • Smart controls, thermostats, and energy-saving features (e.g., weather compensation, load compensation)

  • New flue, condensate pipe, and any necessary pipework upgrades

  • Full system flush, inhibitor treatment, and commissioning to ensure long-term reliability

All installations are carried out by our Gas Safe registered, in-house engineers completed to the highest standards with minimal disruption. Most boiler swaps are finished in a single day.

What we install:

  • A-rated double or triple-glazed windows (uPVC & aluminium) with low-E glass, argon-filled cavities, and warm-edge spacers for maximum thermal performance

  • High-security, energy-efficient external doors (composite or uPVC) with multi-point locking, insulated cores, and advanced weather seals

  • Full replacement including new frames, sills, trims, and careful fitting to eliminate cold bridges and air leakage

  • Optional extras like acoustic glazing, solar control glass, or slimline profiles for heritage properties

Under Floor Heating

Underfloor heating transforms the way your home feels delivering gentle, even warmth from the floor up, eliminating cold spots, and creating a luxurious, cosy environment without the need for bulky radiators.

What we install:

  • Electric underfloor heating – Ideal for quick retrofits, tiles, stone, or wood floors; fast response times and zoned control

  • Wet (water-based) underfloor heating – Connected to your boiler or heat pump; highly efficient for larger areas and whole-house systems

  • High-quality insulation boards, heating cables/mats/pipes, and smart thermostats with app control for precise temperature management

  • Full floor preparation, screed or self-levelling compound (where required), and professional laying under tiles, laminate, engineered wood, or carpet

  • Integration with existing or new heating systems for maximum efficiency

All installations are carried out by our experienced, in-house team fully compliant with Building Regulations (Part L) and electrical/plumbing standards.
